WEBBY 1967 SPLITSCREEN CAMPER SOLD
We imported this beast from California a few years ago and tucked it away for safe keeping. The covers are now off and we've been spending some quality time restoring this 1978 Westfalia to show standard. It's going to be a head-turner without doubt.
So far we've cut out and replaced any rusty body panels and the body and bolt-on panels have been blocked and primed three times to get them absolutely straight. The next stage is to apply UPOL epoxy primer, Raptor coating and lacquer on the undercarriage to give a tough and shiny finish. It will also be bare metalled and all suspension will be detailed. All steering, brakes and suspension will be replaced and new 17 inch fuchs alloys will be fitted as standard.
To drive it along, we can eitther fit a 1776cc engine with twin 40 Webber carbs, CSP full exhaust system with a freeway flyer gearbox, or a standard 1600cc engine and gearbox – it all depends on the customer budget.
Being an original 1978 Westfalia, this camper will sleep 4 adults. The pop-top roof has been restored and it will come with a new canvas, inner roof lining, roof boards, full-width rock and roll bed and flooring.
The body colour is going to be finished in original 1960's split screen Samba colours: blue over white for the top half and turquoise for the bottom half, with a painted dash, colour-coded pop-top and all to show standard.
If you're looking for a long-lasting, fully-restored, show standard VW camper, then this is the van for you.
